Australia’s first drone trial for medical supplies in remote areas

iMOVE CRC’s new Integrating drones into NT Health project was announced last week by the NT Government, an important project not only for the Northern Territory, but also for all other remote Australian communities.

Led by the Northern Territory Department of Health, with research from Charles Darwin University, it will see custom-made, state-of-the-art medical drones with a flying range of up to 250 kilometres developed and trialled for delivery of potentially life-saving medicines.

There are numerous challenges to incorporating drones into the healthcare supply chain for remote and regional Australia. The aim of this project is to solve those challenges and build capacity so that drones may become a routine and sustainable addition.
